An Elephant's Tale (Or Trunk for That Matter)

There has always been a constant struggle between man and animals...and this includes our lovely elephants. Humans are, of course, a selfish lot, we clear forests to make way for agriculture (for food, so that's kind-of ok), industries (for jobs) and for housing (REALLY??? Do we actually need 5 houses each??)

We tend to forget or ignore that animals were here on this earth first. So seniors rule right??? WRONG! We are supposed to be the greater race, having brains and all that...we right now, all points to pure greed, and the constant need to have more.

Elephants are descendants from the great wolly mammoth (Manny if u watch Ice Age). So they demand R.E.S.P.E.C.T, or just plainly leave them alone. Contrary to popular belief, elephants are gentle souls...do you know that an elephant can walk through the forest and won't break a single branch...that is how graceful and calm these creatures are!

In case you were wondering whose trunk i was holding earlier, it belongs to my baby, Tapis. Aged one-year old, it has experienced the greatest heart ache ever... to be left alone in the forests by your parents. My heart goes out to her, and if you guys like to meet her in person (err...or in elephant-son), head on over to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary.

This centre was established by PERHILITAN in 1989, which serves as a base for relocation of elephants that have been caught in the wild. Here, they are trained to adapt to human activities, and are given good treatment.

Now it hosts 21 elephants, ranging from 1 year old elephants (that's tapis) and Mala (she's 72 years old!). Upgrading works are being done in order to fascilitate their growing numbers as well as to give the extra comfort for visitors to the centre.

This centre is a mere 2 hours drive from KL (ok, 1 and a half hours if u r an F1 driver like yours truly). You can never get this chance to be up close and personal with the elephants, and the best part is- IT'S FREE!!

There are two shows daily, one starts at 10 am and the other at 2 pm. You are able to feed the elephants, touch them, ride them (only for the first 120 people) and of course, the highlight of the day, bathe with them! As a lover of all things water...this was of course what I loved the most.

Now this old soul that im holding its trunk is Mala, our longest resident, she is 72 years old, but fit as ever! One eye doesnt see so well, but apart from that, she's good and healthy.

The discolouration on her skin is result of old age..like our uban, if you will. Elephants love banana trunks, they love the inside part...its a thrill to see them squish the trunks and get the centre part with their trunks...adorable!

So who do you thank for doing all this? The team from PERHILITAN of course, especially the dedicated team in Kuala Gandah. It is an actual fact that elephants are jealous so they have to the same trainer taking care of them...i would not want to be in the way of a jealous elephant *shudder*.

To the Kuala Gandah team, keep up the good work. For those who are interested to help the centre and the elephants, kindly make donations which will be used for the upkeep of the centre and its inhabitants. No amount is too small.

The Phenomenon We Call Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle sings like an angel...not that I have heard an angel sing...but I bet he would sound just like her..

Bought her CD, and proud to say that I was not disappointed...if she was a Malaysian, she would not have lasted a day in Akademi Fantasia, or whichever crap they call entertainment. Look at Adibah Noor, people neglect, or choose to ignore her talents. Malaysians are, by definition, a vain lot.

So here is my favourite song from the album, Wild Horses... a cover version of the Rolling Stones Hit Single..enjoy
Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who i am
You know I cant let you slide through my hands
Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me way
I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me away
I know i dreamt you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but i dont have much time
faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Lets do some living after we die...

Duniaku, TV3

Yup, definately have the looks to qualify as a TV presenter

I thought they had a bigger office..wonder how it feels to work in an aquariumDubbed as the green room, i was trying to blend in with the environment,
like the gecko if you will..

As a part of a programme under KPM and PRO Club, we headed out to NSTP and Media Prima Berhad on the 21st of December 2009. A group of 30 officers from different divisions and departments under NRE, we started our programme at 10 oclock, first stop...NSTP
We were then given a briefing and a short Q&A session on the going-ons of a newspaper company, and then proceeded to have a look-see their working place...
Surprisingly, the reporters were a neat lot, unlike of the chaotic picture we had in mind, thanks to watching the telly. Their working place was airy and spacious. I had the chance of getting my face caricatured (is that even a word??) which i now proudly display at my notice board.
NSTP then provided brunch and gave us a mug as a parting gift...we had a blast taking pictures..
Our next destinantion was Media Prima Berhad in Bandar Utama...the real fun begins of course.. We got to see the DJ's of Hotfm, Flyfm and MyOnefm in action, see in person Aliff Satar doing his stint in Choop!!
The high point of the day was watching Izwan doing Berita Terkini, and of course a few of us tried to have a go at news reading..
All in all, the programme was a big success, everyone was happy and got priceless experience to keep in our hearts....

Kaulah Segalanya

Memang hanya Tuhan
Yang tahu segalanya
Apa yang kuinginkan
Di saat-saat ini
Kau takkan percaya
Kau selalu di hati
haruskah ku menangis
Untuk menyatakan yang sesungguhnya
Kaulah segalanya untukku
Kaulah curahan hati ini
Tak mungkin ku melupakanmu
Tiada lagi yang ku harap
Hanya kau seorang
As promised, I sang at Mahathir & Maizatul's wedding, deliberately coinciding with Madey's birthday, and the song that I chose was the song sang by Ruth Sahanaya, one of my all time favourites.
The wedding was held in Intekma, Shah Alam. They could not provide the music, so I had to improvise. I manage to serenade the couple as they walked down to the cake-cutting ceremony.
To Mahathir & Maizatul, here's to a lifetime of happiness, now that you have found each other..
When's my turn so that Mahathir can sing at MY wedding :)

Runaway Horses

Horses are majestic creatures, with a regal stance, truly one of God's most beautiful creatures.
same goes with the people born in the year of the horse, as your truly :)
I am taking horse riding lessons in Equestrian Centre, Putrajaya..but just only had bonding sessions with horsey, giving them food to eat, rubbing them, just in case i was secretly afraid of horses. Hello, being part horse myself, I am not afraid of them..
My fascination with horses started very early, as long as I can remember, I loved horses. My favourite childhood book was Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. I think its because of too much exposure to western movies and Little House on the Prairie.
I was told that new sessions will commence in January, so until then, this will have to do...More horsey stories in the future, reading it straight from the horse's mouth... ciaoo..

The Bestest Birthday Party Ever!

Farah can host a damn good party. Period.
Acad's birthday had a Ben 10 theme...much to the delight of my two nephews... my niece was a bit crestfallen...but was instantly happy after getting a barbie pack...kids..they are so easy to please...
Anyways, Farah had a pinata for the kids to bash up. Personally, Farah shud have opted for Nelson as the pinata...it will be way much cheaper and more satisfying..haha
The highlight of course were the two inflatable castles that i myself had a go going down the slide with the kids...thank goodness the castle did not deflate...
The cutest question of the day was from my nephew, Irfan... He asked "Kawan Auntie Ina ni memang kaya giler, ek?" Well cant exactly blame him for feeling that way..the housing estate was huge!! Complete with a man-made lake, a sanctuary for peacocks and a swan to boot..it was joggers heaven!
If Farah's parents decide to gon on a holiday and need a house-sitter...Im more than welcome to provide my services...FOC!

Droplets

I'm leaving you

I'm not sure if that’s what I should do

It hurts so bad

I'm wanting you but cant go back

Trying to find, to find

That all elusive piece of mind

Stuck here somehow

Shrouded beneath my fear

And now I don’t need it

Cuz I'm walkin down this road alone and figured all

I'm thinking bout is you, is you my love

And my head is in a cloud of rain and the world it seems so far away and

I'm just waiting for

The droplets, droplets

You left a mark

I wear it proudly on my chest

Above my heart

Above my heart

To Remind me that I feel the best

When I'm with you

When I'm with you

To me everything is effortless

You know its true

My eyes are painted with regret and I don’t need it

Cuz I'm walkin down this road alone and figured all

I'm thinking bout is you, is you my love

And my head is in a cloud of rain and the world it seems so far away and

I'm just waiting to fall and sink into your tears

You are like the raindrops, the raindrops falling down on me

You left a mark you left a mark

She left a mark he left

She left he left

And I don’t

I don’t
Need it.

Need it

Did I tell you how much I love Colbie Callait's songs??? This one hits right in the ballpark...I simply love the sincerity of the lyrics...

I think we've all been there...stuck in a dilemma of letting someone you love deeply go, just because you know in your heart of hearts...you were never meant to be..

To let go, or to hold on....what ever it is that you decide, choose wisely, give it much thought...then just let it rip! Live life with no regrets...no what ifs...life is just too short for wishing what could have been...

I love it when you treat the presence of someone's love like drops of rain...somehow it sounds so soothing and cool...soft, pitter-patter of raindrops...splashing on your skin...aaah...the good old days when we used to play in the rain...*bliss*
